Feb-BRRRR-uary

Happy Valentine's Day! It's been quite the week here in Charlotte with ice storm Pax making its way across the Southeast.  It started snowing on Tuesday and we got around 8-10 inches overall and we've been stuck in the house since then!

This has been such a cold, cold winter and we have been going stir crazy having to be indoors so much.  Between January colds and sniffles and February snow days I feel like I can count on one hand how many days Graham has actually been able to go to school.  Luckily we do have the Charlotte museum pass that gets us into the Discovery Place uptown and Discovery Place kids along with the Nature museum.  Sometimes we just have to get out of the house and we like activities!! Graham and Anne Holland get excited about trips to Walmart and Harris Teeter these days, sad.  We miss the sun and warm weather and park days! Hurry up spring we can't take much more of this!!

Since we have been stuck at home, Ayden included, we've tried to make the most of the snowy weather by making cozy fires, eating smores, doing homemade Valentines, making forts-you name it! The first time it snowed two weeks ago we only got about 2 inches so I pulled together somewhat of a snow weather outfit for Graham and bundled AH up as best as I could and we headed out to play in the white stuff. The fun lasted about 30 minutes, Graham was over it.  So on Monday when Ayden said I should head out to stock up on groceries and snow gear for the kids I decided to only worry about the food since Graham didn't love the snow the last time. Well, lesson learned. I've already ordered snow gear for the kids for next season (which means it probably wont snow at all) but the Meyers will be prepared for snow next time! We didn't have a sled, snow coat, nada! We live next to a big pond and steep hills in our neighborhood and it was perfect for sledding. All the older kids had a blast!  Like I said, next year we will be ready ;-) Here are some pics from the week...

I do think our home looks beautiful surrounded by all the fluffy white snow!
