2010 Recap

Happy New Year! This year we rang in 2011 at home in Charlotte. I think I woke up from a nap around 11:30pm to feed Graham and just barely saw the ball drop on Dick Clark's Rocking New Year's Eve show (which was so disappointing this year by the way). Of course, baby Graham decided to get fussy right as the clock stuck midnight so we did not do a whole lot of celebrating, ha. I always love the beginning of a new year because it means a fresh start and an opportunity to make changes and fulfill personal goals. We are looking forward to this new year with our son and to all of the challenges and fun times ahead for us as new parents.

2010 ended up being such a great year for us. It was a busy year with lots and lots of celebrations. Ayden landed a job at Wells Fargo last March and it has been such a great improvement from his prior job at Bank of America. He works for a great group and the company is very family oriented which has been so wonderful for us. Ayden's brother and sister in law (Will and Ellen) welcomed their sweet baby boy in July and we can't wait for Graham to be old enough to play with his cute cousin. Ayden's sister, Margaret, and her long time boyfriend Brien got engaged and we are so excited for them and thrilled to be a part of their upcoming wedding this April. We also had several fun vacations in 2010, including Turks & Caicos and the always eventful annual Meyer family Beach week in Edisto.

Of course the best part of our year was welcoming baby Graham! We feel so blessed to have our little one, although he is already proving to be quite the handful ;-) Being new parents is challenging, but we encourage each other daily and know that this hard time with a newborn (who is quite fussy most of the time) will quickly pass and before we know it he will be a bouncing bundle of baby joy! Even when he's fussy and crying and we have done everything but stand on our heads to console him, I thank God daily for this sweet baby. As most of you know, this time last year we were in a very different place as we were grieving the miscarriage of our first baby. I still have moments where I am very sad for the great loss we endured but when I look at Graham's sweet face I am reassured that everything happens for a reason and I just feel so fortunate to have been given this opportunity to be a mother to this precious child.

With all that being said, we are so looking forward to this new year and will keep you all posted on our exciting happenings!!!!
