In the spirit of all things Spring, I decided to take advantage of Graham's long nap today and do some Spring cleaning. Each year for the Junior League we are asked to donate $100 in either clothing or a cash donation to the Junior League Wear house which is our biggest fundraiser. It's not at all hard to dig through our closets each year and gather up enough clothing, shoes, etc. to meet quota but this year I went all out and decided to do some SERIOUS cleaning out of my closets. I was both shocked and embarrassed by the amount of clothing I own that never gets worn, or at least has not gotten worn for the past several years. I wish I had the patience to put everything on hangers and take it all to a consignment shop to get some cash back for my purchases, but I figure donating to a good cause is a good thing too. Here is a list of items I am donating....brace yourself:
Shoes= 20 pairs
Shorts- 2
Skirts- 12
Dresses= 4
Pants= 8
Tops/Shirts= 26
Sweaters= 19
Can you even believe that! Surprisingly, I still have a closet full of clothes and shoes. It was nice to rummage through things I've had since college but clearly it's time for these items to find new owners who will hopefully get some good wear out of them! So, my lesson learned is that I am seriously going to stop shopping-I really am! Being a full time mommy with no "paycheck" will surely aid in my goal to stop wasting money on material things. It's nice to splurge on things every once in a while and I am definitely a girly-girl who loves to shop but I am really going to stick to my goal and stop buying SO many clothes, just a few things every once in a while ;-)
